When the governments around the world began to lock people down, they were claiming they were doing so because they wanted to "slow the spread." Problem is, they never could slow it. Why?
The virus had already been widely spread between December and February.
In fact, the largest global spreading event was travel for Chinese New Year.

So, given that millions already had left Wuhan and traveled by planes, trains, and automobiles, the spread had already been largely effected around the world.
And, on top of that, many "health officials" and politicians then claimed that people should go out to Chinese New Year festivities or they would be xenophobic.

So every single thing that politicians and "health authorities" told people was a lie, from pretending that Coronavirus was not spreading during Chinese New Year, to claiming that they could meaningfully "stop the spread" when it had ALREADY largely spread around the world.
Of course, the fact that Coronavirus had spread did not mean it was itself a deadly killer as compared to other viruses.
