A Bristol girl has bravely broken her silence about FGM as stats show 45 newly-recorded cases in Bristol in three months alone.

Tuesday, February 6, marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in 2017.

Figures from the NHS show FGM continues to affect thousands of girls, despite the practice being made illegal 30 years ago.

In Bristol, there were 45 newly-recorded cases between July 2017 and September 2017, while there were five more in South Gloucestershire and five in North Somerset.
