Sweden: Two injured as hand grenade explodes at Stockholm subway station

Two people have been taken to hospital after an explosion outside a Stockholm subway station.

The explosion occurred late on Sunday morning outside the Varby Gard station, in Stockholm's south west, and left a 60-year-old man with serious injuries.

?There was something on the ground that the man picked up, and then it exploded," Sven-Erik Olsson of the Stockholm police told the TT news agency.

He added that he suspected the two victims were not purposely targeted by whoever left the explosive.

The Aftonbladet newspaper reported that the blast was from was a hand grenade, though this remains unconfirmed and police have refused to comment on the matter.

A 45-year-old woman was also injured in the blast although it's understood she only suffered minor injuries?.
